Esophagogastroduodenoscopy
Esophagogastroduodenoscopy
Esophagogastroduodenoscopy, or EGD, is a procedure that uses a flexible tube with a light and camera to examine the esophagus, stomach and duodenum (the first part of the small intestine). During this procedure we can look for inflammation, ulcers, bleeding and tumors. Biopsies are often taken through the endoscope.
