You must start eating a low-residue diet 2 days before your colonoscopy. A low-residue diet is where you eat very few foods that are high in fiber or are hard for your body to digest. This is the opposite type of diet that is generally recommended. For the purpose of the colonoscopy it helps with the entire clean out process. Fiber is made up of plant material that can’t be completely digested by your body.
